Our Organic Farming Projects

That is why our raw materials come from growing regions where the respective crops can thrive under suitable climatic and natural conditions. In our organic projects, we work together with local partner farms to organize cultivation, processing, and marketing based on clearly defined standards.

It is not just about the cultivation itself, but about the interplay of origin, processing, and collaboration.

Organic projects as part of our way of working

From the very beginning, our aim has been not merely to distribute organic products, but to develop them in collaboration with partners in the growing regions.

This is how our organic projects take shape: through structured cooperation along the agricultural value chain—spanning cultivation, processing, and the further processing of raw materials.

We focus on long-term partnerships, transparent processes, and coordinated collaboration.

Local Collaboration

A key focus of our projects is organizing smallholder farmers into cooperatives. In this model, smallholders and agricultural businesses join forces to coordinate tasks—ranging from the collection and storage of raw produce to distribution and initial processing steps.

This collaboration creates streamlined workflows and enables the shared use of resources. Cooperatives continuously refine their structures and invest in shared equipment. The exchange of knowledge and experience also plays a central role.

We provide pre-financing to support these cooperatives. Our cashews from Togo are a prime example: we make a down payment as early as November—before the harvest—to enable the farmers to plan ahead.

Did you know?

A cooperative is an association of farmers and agricultural businesses that jointly organize and carry out specific tasks. The aim is to consolidate operations and coordinate activities among the members.

For smaller operations in particular, this form of collaboration offers the opportunity to jointly organize—for example—the collection, storage, and distribution of raw produce, as well as to exchange knowledge and experience.

This allows processes to be better coordinated and resources to be shared.

It creates a structured workflow spanning cultivation and processing.

Support along the value chain

The support and collaboration involved in our projects are diverse and manifest in a wide range of areas.

These include, among other things: pre-financing of raw materials, support with certifications such as EU Organic, Naturland, and Demeter, investments in infrastructure, facilities, and processing and knowledge transfer regarding cultivation and processing methods.

We prioritize long-term collaboration, personal interaction, and direct contact. In our selection process, we focus on clearly defined social requirements and structured processes throughout cultivation and processing.

Support

We work closely with our cultivation partners and support them in various areas—ranging from the exchange of expertise to the organization of processes throughout cultivation and processing. In doing so, we contribute our experience, a network of partners, and access to relevant resources. Together, we further develop operational procedures and align them with the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation and other defined standards.

Working together

Our approach is based on long-term collaboration with our partner operations. Direct procurement, regular communication, and personal visits foster close relationships and reliable structures.

This direct exchange makes it possible to coordinate cultivation and processing jointly and to continuously develop the projects further.
